Which graphics card do I have?

Just follow our guide and you will quickly find out which graphics card is installed in your Windows computer.

For example, if you want to play games on your PC or install new drivers, it can be quite important to know which graphics card is available. We’ll show you how to find out which graphics card is in your PC in several ways with Windows 10.

Read out the graphics card via the device manager

Below you can find our step-by-step instructions or you can check out the quick guide.

Step one:

Open the Explorer and click on “This PC”.

Step two:

Now open the tab “Computer” and click on the item “System properties”.

Step three:

Click on “Device Manager” on the left.

Step four:

Now search for “Graphics Card” in this list and then open the tab by clicking on the arrow on the left. Now you see the name of the graphics card.

Step Five:

Double click on the name of your graphics card and you will get more information regarding your card.

DirectX has been standard in Windows for several versions. With the help of this software you can analyze your graphics card. You can find our step-by-step instructions below or you can take a look at the quick start guide.

Step one:

Open DirectX with the key combination [Windows] + [R] and then enter “dxdiag” in the window. Confirm this with “OK”.

Step two:

Now select “Display” in the new window at the top.

Step three:

There you will find a lot more information about your graphics card. You will also see their name there.

You can also view more information about your graphics card using an external program. Using the free GPU-Z software, we’ll explain how this works:
1. download GPU-Z, for example at heise download via this link: www.heise.de/download/product/gpu-z

2. After you install the software, you can open GPU-Z.

3. Now you will immediately see the name, as well as many other information about the graphics card.

Quick guide for the Device Manager

Open the Control Panel by opening Explorer and clicking on “This PC”.2. Then select the “Computer” tab at the top and click on “System Properties” in the menu. In the left column you will now find the Device Manager, which you open by clicking on it.3. You can also search for “Control Panel” in the search bar and open it instead. There you can then select “Hardware and Sound” and open the “Device Manager” at the top under “Devices and Printers”.4. A list of the installed hardware is now displayed in a new window. Search for “Graphics Card” in the list and open the tab by clicking on the arrow on the left. You will now see the name of your graphics card. Double-click on the name of the graphics card to get more information about your graphics card.
